Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind (Labyrinth Road) is a children’s story following 11-year-old Momo and her wish of a normal life for her 12th birthday. Dealing with a variety of family obligations at home, including taking care of her widowed mother, Momo finds herself in a situation where she is no longer able to distinguish reality from the magical stories she once was told. As her mother falls even more ill, Momo’s reality blurs and is populated by the fictional characters her mother created. A fun, creative rendition, Sugiura creatively paints Momo’s world and the elements of conflict she is faced with.
